As I have a deep love for London architecture, there are several photos that are meant as nothing more than a tribute to the gorgeous buildings surrounding me.
A hop-on, hop-off tour, I took advantage of hopping off quite often, so I didn't see everything. But, I did see a great deal, and as much as I could handle in one day. We started off at Trafalgar Square, then down Pall Mall and St. James Street. Through Piccadilly and past the original Hard Rock Cafe (next time, I want to eat where all the Greats have eaten!). Up Park's Lane and around Hyde Park. (BTW, Hyde Park, with Kensington Gardens, makes up the largest park in England, over 340 acres of green!) Next, we toured past Buckingham Palace and headed toward Westminster Abby.

My absolute favorite was Big Ben. I can't possibly describe it, so you'll have to do with the pics. Finally, we we're on our way past Waterloo and The London Eye, up toward my first stop, The Tower of London. But first, we passed St. Paul's Cathedral andwow! Another stop I'll make on my next trip. After touring past City Hall (known as the Onion due to it's unique architecture) and falling in love with the London Bridge, I made my first hop-off at The Tower of London.
What can I say? There is more history in the Tower of London, alone, than in all of the States. This blog isn't long enough to go into detail, and we weren't allowed to take photos is some areas (including the Crown Jewels), but you should research it some time. After some lunch (a greasy pizza, my first junk food of the trip!), I hopped back on the bus and headed back toward the London Eye. I had a hop-off at the Tate first, though.
The Tate Museum of Modern Art was pretty darn awesome. I took some photos of my faves, but not of everything. There was so much to see! One exhibit really made an impression: John Heartfield. He's known for his famous artwork against the Nazis in WW2 Germany. An entire room was dedicated to his drawings, and although he was a devoted pacifist, the anger, fear, death, pride, insanity, etc., that existed in Germany at the time is palpable in his work. It was a WOW.
After the Tate, I hopped back on and rode over to the London Eye. Once there, I decided I would rather go up after dark, so I opted for a nice river tour instead. The Thames River is beautiful. Granted, the river itself is dirty (you would never want to swim in it!), but it's lined with so many beautiful buildings and attractions. As it neared dark, I went up to a Japanese restaurant above City Hall and had some Sake & Sushi. My seat at the bar looked out at the River Thames, and I was able to witness the sun setting behind Big Ben and other incredible monuments.
By the time I was up in the Eye, I was pooped! And my camera seemed to be as well, for the night photos turned out awful. So I put the camera away and simply enjoyed the 360 degree views of London at night. Stunning doesn't even describe it. I walked over to Westminster Station, boarded the Tube, and headed home. By the time I walked through the door of my flat, I was ready for snooze time.
Sothat's my day as a tourist. Not too shabby, although there are so many things I didn't see. I have no doubt I'll be back, though, and probably soon. London is my new second home, I think. Of course, I may be saying that about Paris, or Monaco, or Berlin as well! Might be a few days before I post again as I'm traveling to Paris tomorrow. Bye for now!
